What is a Puppy Raiser?
All of our potential service or therapy dogs are raised for the first 6 months to 1 year by volunteer “puppy raisers”. Volunteers will raise a puppy until it hits specific benchmarks needed to become a service dog. The time, energy, love and dedication to raise a puppy is an adventure ! Qualifications to be a recipient
- You or the nominee must be able to care for a dog
- You or the nominee must have a disability that requires the use of a service dog
- You or the nominee must work in a school or facility that has been approved to have a Therapy or Facility dog .
- You or the nominee must be willing to travel to Genesee county to complete training with your dog (unless otherwise agreed upon)
- You or the nominee must be ready to make the commitment to care for A DOGS DAILY NEEDS, FOOD, MEDICAL EXPENSES, GROOMING, ETC

HALSEY POODLES & DOODLES AND SISSA'S FOUNDATION
Halsey Poodles and Doodles is the exclusive breeder for SISSA'S Foundation. We utilize volunteer puppy raisers and in-house training. We use Bernese Mountain dogs, golden Retrievers, standard poodles and Bernedoodles as our working dogs. HPD takes great pride in producing only the highest quality, health tested, handpicked dogs to become T1D or PTSD service dogs , Therapy or Facility dogs .
